This week’s blog entry is just a quick recap of the my visit to the New York Pipe show this past Saturday March 10th. The show was held at the Wyndham Garden Hotel near the Newark airport. It’s a bit odd that the New York show actually occurs in New Jersey, but the location is probably more convenient for many attendees throughout the North East.
Admission was $10, which I can honestly say was the best $10 I have spent as a pipe smoker. The show vendors included several talented pipe carvers, representatives from tobacco companies, pipe manufactures, companies selling pipe making supplies and accessories, and a number of folks selling estate pipes ranging from extreme restoration projects through fully restored ready to smoke beauties.
It is rare in this day and age to run into another pipe smoker, let alone a room full of pipe smokers. And to be in the company of so many like minded folks surrounded by great pipes and tobacco is an experience that is not to be missed. If you have never had the opportunity to attend a pipe show, I highly recommend you look for the next one in your area and make plans to be there!
